Danielle Grable, a forward for the Marian University Women's Soccer team and one of three graduating seniors helped the Sabres win their first 2009 conference tournament game. Grable lead the team in points with 31, scoring 13 goals and having 5 assists in the 2009 season. Grable scored a goal in ten of the last eleven games of her college career. Here is a one-on-one with the CoSIDA/ESPN award winner. (The Magazine Academic All-District Women's Soccer team)

What were your thoughts at the beginning of the season?
As soon as we met as a team during preseason, the coaches and returning players knew that this was a special and talented team. Not only were we surpassing our ending level of play from the previous season, but the team's bond seemed unbreakable.
How was the season from the beginning to the end?
Our exhibition games went well, giving way to areas that needed to improved, along with reinforcing the positives in our play. The team's confidence increased as we beat teams by more than we ever have before, going into overtime with the top teams in our conference, breaking records, and having fun while doing so. Of course we had our heartbreaks, losing to Benedictine was not part of the plan, but I believe it made us even hungrier to prove ourselves and win our first NAC play-off game. We accomplished this goal with a 2-1 win over Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday October 31, which sent us down to Aurora, IL the following Tuesday. Unfortunately, we fell to Aurora in a disappointing and frustrating loss of 4-0.
How do you think your last conference game went and how do you think they will do next year?
I believe we could have played better, but that day just was not our day. I can only hope the returning players for next year realize the mistakes, work on them, make themselves better, and know that their team is capable of winning the conference tournament. Congratulations to the Marian Women's Soccer team for making it to the conference semi-finals game, this season was amazing and I could not have asked for better people to share it with. Good luck next year ladies!
